The gathering following the enormously successful ACC BBQ the night before was a little slow. The importance of
getting the keg in place and rose on ice seemed to take priority over the setting up of the wicket. Another glorious
day and it is hard to think what is better than playing cricket in good company, lovely ground (and outfield!) with clear
skies – superb! ACC lost the toss and the oppo decided to bat. With many of the team carrying injuries from last
week’s game and the night before, our bowling didn’t look the strongest but a stellar performance from Mitchard ma
& mi, Hughes, Horne, Hill and Molony meant we kept them to just over 100 for their 30 overs. Some highlights included
the first of my three overs going for 0 runs and taking 3 wickets (don’t hold your breath to see that again!), Dave M
sitter dropped, Ben H great catch in the deep and Rob O big arm – finally it’s not only Lewis who can throw it in from
the boundary! However this was all overshadowed by my bowling of Larry for a golden duck – in Larry’s defence it
was Warne esq in its ball of the century style – out swinging in cutting beauty! Our batting got off to a slow start but
we were looking at gathering up the runs at an even pace and great to see our debutants of Rob and Teddy opening
the batting. Sadly we ran out of time and the combination of Casper being triggered run out and me falling on my
wickets…nothing to do with Ramsbury Gold……meant we lost by 4 runs. A great game and thank you to Larry for
organising the BBQ. Good times and let’s hope the weather continues.
